The Kamloops Marathon offers 3km, 8km, half marathon, marathon relay and full marathon options.
The full marathon, which is a certified Boston Marathon qualifier, starts and finishes at beautiful McArthur Island park, located on the north bank of the south Thompson River. The route takes runners along the rivers trail, a diverse and inspiring urban trail linking five different neighborhoods and communities within the City of Kamloops. Runners enjoy unique Kamloops scenery including mountains, grasslands, river valleys, sage-covered hills, cactus and impressive ponderosa pines. The route takes racers through Riverside Park, one of the jewels of the Kamloops parks system with stunning river views, mature trees, and historic sites.
The Kamloops Marathon course is a certified course allowing it to be used as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. The Kamloops Marathon scenic course includes some spectacular views of the Thompson Rivers while running along the Rivers Pathway trails of Kamloops. Starting at Mac Island Park is like running through a mini Stanley Park. The route also includes the legendary Riverside Park which is very beautiful part of Kamloops. Course Elevations: Min: 1114.0 ft, Max: 1193.0 ft, Last: 1125.0 ft, Total Elevation Gain: 565.0 ft.
Half Marathon Route
(21.1 kilometers) The half marathon course follows along a similar route of the Marathon course including the beautiful Mac Island park a mini Stanley Park and includes the Rivers Pathway trails following along the Thompson Rivers. A favorite running route of locals and great scenery.
